Mel - this is an urn plant. I took it at the garden center on Sunday. We have one here that's not quite as colorful. The leaves are green and the flowers inside are a lighter color of pink.
You can see on this photo that the flowers are starting to blossom from the inside and they are purple.
In order to water this plant, you pour the water into the middle cup - not the soil.

I love that color of purple. It is so unusual.

That's a cactus isn't it? Looks similar to a Yucca, but with color. Cool.
