Dreams are like morning dew, slowly dissipating in the light of day. Hour by hour, minute by minute, reality sneaks in, seeking to steal the fire, hope and the tentative fragments that comprise them. Rarely, do dreams magically appear. They must be nurtured, tended, and cared for. Dreams require a lot of work and tremendous sacrifice.
As a child, I dreamed of living on a farm in a small town. I pictured rocking on the front porch, sipping tea and watching the sun set over the wheat fields. I didn’t understand the hard work and skills needed to run a farm – or that the work began before sunrise. However, as I grew, so did my dreams. Not because I gave up on them, but because I saw life differently. Some of my life long dreams have been captured. Others are still waiting to be pursued.
I used to dream on top of my swing set or inside the highest tree I could find. The taller I was, the closer I felt to heaven. I told God all about my dreams. He didn’t think they were silly or stupid. In fact, he put those dreams in my heart.
What about you? How long has it been since you thought about your own dreams. What are you doing to keep your dreams from disappearing? Join me won’t you? Let’s capture our dreams together.

That is precious! I'm with you -- some of my dreams I have experienced, some are still on the horizon.
I found your wonderful blog through my friend Lisa.
What you wrote about "Johnny" is powerful! I am going to send others your way.
Many blessings. I look forward to knowing you better!
Beth
Beautiful picture to start off a wonderful post.
Dreams. They are great, but sometimes challenging, aren't they?
I don't remember much about what I dreamed for as a kid. Maybe to be a professional tennis player. Or discover something unique and wonderful that all the world would love.
But, like you, as I grew, my dreams changed. I continually try to seek out what God wants me to do, and for now, my dream is to write a novel worthy of publication.
Until God puts something different on my heart...I'll walk through the doors he opens on that dream.
Great post, thanks for sharing.
Beth it's so good to see you over here with Jan.
Jan, I am a visionary person by God's design therefore His dreams for my life are always before me. A few have happened already, ONE I'm in the throws of right now and a few are still on the prayer floor for His timing.
I appreciate your heart to bring us all to the awareness of those dreams. Love you much.
I'm a dreamer. I have seen some come to pass and I continue to nurture the ones yet to come. They are definitely God's to do with according to His good pleasure.
Thank for sharing. Glad to know another dreamer!
Maybe this year I will finish my tea party pictures. :)
Loved your post, Jan.
See you soon!
Growing up I also dreamed of living on a farm, being a farmer's wife. Now half my back yard is vegetable garden. Does that count. Does a house full of kids and animals count?
Beth: thanks for stopping by. How great to meet you. Lisa is a gem isn't she?
Lynn: this was taken over my back fence. We have some incredible sunsets and cloud formations here.
Lisa: it seems we are a lot alike. Waiting is the hardest part. Thanks for stopping by.
Tiffany: Doesn't everyone dream? Then there are some who are afraid to even hope...
Ton: thanks for stopping by. What are your dreams?
Flea: Yes, I think that counts. LOL. I had a garden once. We grew huge vegetables and gave most of them away as we aren't big on veggies. We eat more now, but we have a rabbit infestation that would eat them all if we had veggies too!
I like that you said dreams need to be nurtured, tended, and cared for. You are so right. Dreams don't typically come true because we want them to, but because we are willing to obediently follow God's direction in making them come true.
Great post.
You've struck a chord here, Jan. Daily, I think about my dreams of my childhood. How I used to make up songs and stories and tell them to my stuffed animals in hopes of their applause and approval. I'm still waiting...still struggling to see my dreams realized in the way that I had imagined all those years ago.
Still and yet, God is growing me with a fresh vision for seeing them come to fruition via other means. I don't know what to make of it most days; honestly, some days I want to quit.
But the story in me still sings its song, and for as long as the melody plays, I will continue to add my own voice to the mix.
Hope all is well. It's obvious that God is blessing your dreams in some strong and powerful measure. Be blessed this week.
peace~elaine
I loved this piece, Jan.
My dreams? I'm trying to pin them all down. Some seem silly, others have already been fulfilled. I'm thinking about fasting and praying to seek His will... more on that to come.
Thanks for asking! :~D
